Saint Francis Foundation Awarded $150,000 Grant from Delta Dental Community Care Foundation

Foundation News & Updates

We are excited to share that Saint Francis Foundation has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. This generous grant will help us address key social determinants of health and improve the well-being of vulnerable populations in San Francisco, particularly in the Tenderloin neighborhood.

The grant awarded to Saint Francis Foundation will be used to support broader health initiatives. Specifically, the funding will allow us to expand the capacity of our Emergency Department by hiring dedicated Behavioral Health Social Workers. These professionals will conduct intake assessments to identify critical patient needs, such as housing, substance use, and mental health services. By connecting patients to community resources and providing ongoing support, we aim to improve overall health outcomes and reduce the need for repeated emergency care.

“We are deeply grateful for this generous grant, which will allow us to expand our efforts in providing compassionate care to underserved and unhoused individuals in our emergency department. This support is instrumental in helping us address the unique needs of this vulnerable population, ensuring they receive not only medical attention but also the dignity and respect they deserve.”

In addition to expanding our team, the grant will fund training for our emergency department staff on trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and stigma reduction. This specialized training will help ensure that all patients receive compassionate and effective care during their most vulnerable moments.

We are deeply grateful to the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation for their partnership and commitment to helping us improve the health and well-being of our community. Together, we are addressing some of the most pressing health challenges in San Francisco and making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
