The Board of Directors is made up of diverse community leaders.

As committed volunteers, they represent the Hospital’s constituents: neighborhood residents, grateful patients, physicians, corporate partners and others who have a keen interest in making San Francisco a healthy place to live and work. They share a passion for a vibrant Hospital and a healthy civic life.

Secretary

Jim previously managed Chevron Corporation’s global pension assets and was subsequently a Portfolio Manager with JP Morgan Securities. He is President of the Azelora Foundation and serves on the Advisory Council for the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Jim holds undergraduate and MBA degrees from Stanford University, as well as a PhD.

Deanna Berzins

Deanna Berzins

Deanna Berzins, CFP, is a Senior Portfolio Manager with TIAA, FSB, in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Deanna has over 20 years of asset management experience.  Deanna earned her BS in Mathematics/Applied Economics from UCLA, and Personal Financial Planning Certification from UC Berkeley.  She has been active with a variety of organizations, including Meals on Wheels and Junior Achievement.

John Boynton

Currently Vice President in the Capital Transactions Group of Shorenstein Properties, John previously worked as an investment banking analyst with Savvian Advisors and as a financial analyst with JP Morgan. He holds a BA from Middlebury College. John has also served as Chair of the Saint Francis Foundation Associates.

Ed Conlon

A fifth generation San Franciscan, Ed has been with Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction since 1990, overseeing a myriad of areas from project management to the design build process. He graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a BS in Construction Management.

Dorothea Dutton

Dottie is an independent Wealth Management Consultant who works with high net worth individuals, families, business owners, and foundations to help them meet their long term financial planning and investment goals. She has served extensively in the nonprofit sector throughout the years and currently sits on the board of the San Francisco Estate Planning Council as well as the NUS (National University of Singapore) Medicine International Council at the Yong Lin School of Medicine.

Elsie M. Fletcher, CFA

Elsie formerly worked as Managing Director at Tukman Grossman Capital Management in Larkspur, CA., and Chief Investment Officer at Bank of America. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the CFA Institute’s Education Advisory Board, as well as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Marin Humane Society. Elsie received her MBA in Finance from the University of North Texas and is a CFA Charterholder.

Harris Goodman, MD

Harris Goodman, MD

Harris Goodman, MD, is a compulsive ultramarathoner with a love of pathology. He attended UCSF for both medical school and residency in pathology and laboratory medicine and holds three Board certifications. He is the Medical Director of the Laboratory and the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. He also serves as the College of American Pathologists Commissioner for Central California.

David Klein, MD, MBA

David is president and CEO of Dignity Health Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. Previously, he was COO of the 574-bed Baylor Scott & White Health All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX. He has also served as administrator of Presbyterian Hospital of Denton and as CEO of Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, both in Texas. Dr. Klein practiced general surgery for 14 years before becoming a hospital administrator. He received his BA from the University of Southern California, his MD from the University of New Mexico, and his MBA from the University of California, Irvine.

Frank Malin

Frank Malin, MD

Frank Malin, MD, has been a member of the active medical staff at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. He has held a number of staff positions, as well as served on the Hospital’s Board of Trustees. Frank is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. Frank received both his BA and his MD from the University of Minnesota.

Nili Malach Poynter

Treasurer

Nili is a Co–Founder and current General Counsel of Vinyl Interactive, LLC. Nili earned her B.A. with honors in political science and psychology from Boston University, Boston, MA. Afterwards, she went on to receive both her Juris Doctorate and an MBA with a concentration in Law from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA, and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2004.

Alan R. Malouf, DDS

Alan Malouf is a dentist in downtown San Francisco. After receiving his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley, Alan received his doctorate from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Francisco Dental Society.

Fraser A. McAlpine

Vice-Chair

Fraser is the Managing Principal of the San Francisco office of Jackson Lewis P.C., a law firm that focuses on preventative strategies and positive solutions for the workplace. Fraser received his BA from Colorado College, and his JD from the University of Toledo College of Law. He and his wife Alice have two grown children.

Chris Meza

Chris is a Principal and Partner at TAG Properties. He was appointed City Commissioner for the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission and has been seated on the following Boards: Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Wells Fargo Community Advisory Board, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver.

Lee Moore

Lee has demonstrated success in the healthcare field as an advocate and administrator for 10 years and currently is the Director of Operations for Dignity Health Go Health Urgent Care. Previously, Lee was the site manager for Stanford Children’s Health in Emeryville. He holds a BA in Anthropology from Howard University and MA in Health Care Administration from Georgetown University.

Nicole Prieto

Nicole has extensive experience in corporate communications, event planning, promotion, and production. Her most recent position was as Director of Marketing and Communications for Caminar, a nonprofit providing services to the psychiatrically disabled. She has been active as a community volunteer with a number of local nonprofit organizations. Nicole has a BA from UC Berkeley.

Victor Prieto, MD

Vic is an orthopedic surgeon, Medical Director for the Center for Sports Medicine and a member of the Saint Francis Orthopedic Institute at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. He has served as Chair of Surgery since 2012, is a Trustee of Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and served on Dignity Health’s Board of Directors. He received his medical degree and orthopedic training at UCSF.

Andrew Rumer

Andy Rumer is a retired CPA and private investor passionate about music, baseball, and birds. He had a boutique accounting practice in the Embarcadero specializing in international corporate tax matters and hi-tech startups for 20 years. He is an alumni of UC Berkeley and is a fourth generation San Franciscan.

Michael Soza, Board Chair

An experienced financial services professional, Mike spent 31 years in public accounting, most recently as partner at BDO USA, LLP. He has served on the boards of the California Symphony and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Mike received his MBA from St. Mary’s College of California and his BS from the University of Southern California. He currently serves on the Leventhal School of Accounting Board of Advisors at USC.

Scott Taylor

With over 30 years public accounting and private industry experience, Scott is currently a Partner at BPM Accounting and Consulting. He provides a variety of accounting and tax services to both public and private technology, biotechnology, healthcare, and nonprofit clients. Scott has a MS in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a BA in Business / Economics from UC Santa Barbara.

Paul Tormey

Paul Tormey

Paul Tormey is the Regional Vice-President and General Manager of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Paul has over 30 years in the hotel industry, including Fairmont Hotels in Boston, Bermuda, the Plaza in New York, and Sheratons in New Orleans, Stamford, CT, Boston and Seattle. Paul has a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University.

Ike Umunnah, JD, ED.M

Ike is a Presidential Leadership Scholar and the Director of Global Public Affairs for Rockwell Automation, the world’s largest company focused on industrial automation and information technology dedicated to sustainability. Ike has prior leadership experience in the military, corporate and political sectors. He earned an MA in Management and Policy from Harvard University, his JD from the University of North Dakota and a BA from Morehouse College.

Aneal Vallurupalli

Aneal leads financial planning and analysis for Mapbox. Previously, he was the founding member of Guidewire’s corporate development group, focusing on acquisitions, finance, sales and analysis. He began his career as an analyst at Union Square Advisors. Aneal has a BS in Finance from Santa Clara University, where he played Division I tennis. He is currently Co-Chair of the Saint Francis Foundation Associates.

Daniella Vallurupalli

Daniella is the Head of Communications for Internet performance and security company, Cloudflare. A Bay Area native, she loves being in the center of the technology scene. Daniella graduated with a BA in Communication from Santa Clara University. Previously, she was the Chair of the Saint Francis Foundation Associates, and has been an active Associates board member since 2012.
