Mental Health is Integral to Overall Wellness
Foundation News & Updates

Let’s recognize it during Mental Health Awareness Month this May
Behavioral and Mental Health is one of our four funding pillars.
At Saint Francis Foundation, we support mental health because we know:
- Mental and physical health are equally important—taking care of one supports the other.
- Integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions improves outcomes.
- Preventive care, strong support networks, and early intervention promote lifelong wellness.
Saint Francis Hospital serves a large and diverse urban population. Through grants and community partnerships, the Foundation is focused on compassionate, integrated health care delivery for those who are medically vulnerable and may face additional substance use or mental health challenges.
We support projects and programs to reach patients before they are in crisis, intersecting with UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospital’s expert Behavioral Health teams to ensure access to care for patients when they are discharged and rejoin their families and community.
We recently awarded $1.32 million in additional funding to current grantees to support their missions, all of which include addressing the mental health of community members.
