Planned Giving

Planned Giving

Planned giving, or gift planning as it is often called, is a method of supporting non-profits and charities that enables donors to make larger gifts than they could make from their income. Often these gifts use estate and tax planning techniques to provide for charity (and other heirs) in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on the donor’s estate.

Here are some ways you can make a planned gift to the Saint Francis Foundation:

  • Cash gift
    • Did you know that you can mail a check on December 31st and, even if the check is not received and cashed by Saint Francis Foundation until after the new year, the IRS will allow you to take a deduction in the year the check was mailed? Keep this in mind for year-end tax planning!
  • Appreciated securities/stock
  • Real estate
  • Assets like a car or valuable artwork
  • Partnership interests
  • Personal property
  • Life insurance
  • A retirement plan

Please contact us at  legacy@saintfrancisfoundation.org or 415-353-6650 for more information on how to make a planned gift to the Saint Francis Foundation.
